Professor Robinson was a member of the first Port Research Team at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva and later directed the Port Development Program for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in Bangkok. Dr Everett completed an MA (Hons) degree and a PhD at the University of Wollongong and a Master of Public Policy (Hons) degree at the University of New England. In 1985 she was awarded a PhD Fellowship by the NSW Coal Association and in 1988 an Australian Research Council post-doctoral fellowship; and in 1995 was awarded the Australian Chamber of Shipping Research Award for investigation into the corporatisation and the privatization of Australian ports.
Associate Professor Everett has a special research interest in government policy making and particularly in regulatory policy related to freight transport and supply chain systems. She has followed closely over the last several years issues in microeconomic reform and developments in competition policy, especially as they have related to rail and port development in Australia’s coal and iron ore chains.
Associate Professor Everett is an Associate of the University of Melbourne and has held senior academic positions at the University of Melbourne and at Victoria University and teaching and research positions at Macquarie University Graduate School of Management, the Graduate School of Business in the University of Sydney and at the Centre for Transport Policy Analysis at the University of Wollongong. He received the Norbert Wiener Award in 1999 and the Joseph G.Wohl Outstanding Career Award in 2005, The Norbert Wiener Award is the SMC’s highest award recognizing lifetime contributions in research.
